The house hunting has come to an end April 29, 2008

Was it only two days ago I posted that my bid didn’t get accepted? Yesterday I contacted my real estate agent, telling him of my limit and that I wanted to bid in between my old bid and my limit. I knew it wasn’t a fair thing, that the other real estate agent probably wouldn’t accept that bid either. However, there was no response from my agent. So, today I called him and I decided to place another bid: my limit. It didn’t got accepted, however, they did a bid back, I did a bid back, which was right in between my old (limit) bid and the agents bid. Because I could accept the keys quickly, they accepted my bid. I now am the proud owner of this small 50m2 appartment. Well, actually, not yet technically, I might get problems financing. I keep telling myself that, so if it really happens I’m not that disappointed. And now we’ll be getting into the holiday part: Queens Day, Ascension etc.

Talking about Queens Day, the fair has started, but with it the rain as well. I wanted to go and visit the fair. However, with these recent events, I hardly can spent any money. Maybe the rain will stop later this evening, or else I’ll go tomorrow. After I’ve went shopping for a floor.

My bid didn’t get accepted April 27, 2008

Thursday I placed a bid on a (small) appartment, which wasn’t accepted. It was way lower than what they asked for it. However, when buying the appartment, one has to change the kitchen and badroom area. I heard the bid wasn’t accepted last Friday at 5.30pm, so this weekend I’ve been thinking what to do. I’m thinking of placing a higher bid, but I’m not sure how much. I do have a limit, but I also really would like the have the appartment. Oh well, nothing can be done until tomorrow. I did go to watch badrooms and kitchens yesterday. That was fun. Not sure what I really want, there were some nice ones, but not that I really said I want it.

The school is packed, closed and awaiting May 6th when everything will be moved back to the other building. Last week has been a tiresome week, since I’ve made days till from 7.30am till 6pm. Whether it was teaching or packing, I’ve been busy. I’m glad to have a week of, with Queens Day and May 5th in between. Not sure what I’ll be doing on Queens Day, probably going down town the evening before and walk around the fair.

I don’t look forward to moving April 24, 2008

Especially now that I’ve had to pack a whole school twice this year. The kids have helped me enormously today, that was great. However, this whole week has been of me working till around 6pm. Everything hurts, I’m extremely tired and I need my holidays. I’m so happy to have a week off and that we have to unpack after Queensday and May 5th.

On another note, yesterday I went back to an appartment I’ve already visited, this time to look at what rebuilding would cost me. Today I got the price and I’ve made an extremely low bid. I can always go higher, right? Now I have to wait from a call from my real estate agent. Though I don’t think they will accept, keep your fingers crossed.

The Elf Fantasy Fair April 20, 2008

Kasteel de haarYesterday I went to the Elf Fantasy Fair with a friend. This fair is the one of the largest fantasy fairs of Europe, and it’s being held at Kasteel de Haar.

 Cecile Corbel preparing

The reason I wanted to go, was because Cecile Corbel would be performing. By coincidence I stumbled upon her website and when I listened some of her songs, I instantly loved her music. So, no wonder I wanted to listen to her perform live and what better way to spent your day at the Fair.

Since Cecile’s performance was in the afternoon around 4pm, we talked about all the other things we could do. There wasn’t much that we wanted to do or listen to or see. Eventhough there were many writers, actors and workshops. We simply walked around, looked at all the things for sale. I’ve been looking the whole day for a medieval looking dress and I finally bought one for a fairly nice price. I still need some accories with it.

The horse showThere were some shows to see. There was this battlefield thing, where Braveheart look-a-likes were fighting the Romans. We left that pretty quickly, we wanted to visit the castle (only to be late anyway). There was also a horse show. It ended soon after we arrived (it might have been going on for some time, I don’t know). I didn’t think it very spectacular, but that’s probably me being used to all this fancy and spectacular stuff. Besides, what was shown, was something I’ve done as well, when riding horses.A parrot

And guess what I came across: A parrot. When I saw it, I simply had to take a photo of it. When I asked the owner if it was possible, she was a bit annoyed. Apparently more people had wanted to pet the bird, and she told me he was sick of it. I simply explained I wanted to take a photo, since my class is called the parrots and that was okay. See the result: he kept sitting, and was actually posing. LOL. I’m thinking to actually develop this one and put it in a frame to hang in my new classroom. As a little present, after the move back.

I’ve made a lot of photos, but mainly the same, so I made a selection and post them here. Just simply click the read more button. And feel free to leave any comments about them :)
