I can’t believe it’s been over a month ago since my last post. In that month a lot of things have happened. Especially concerning my very little appartment. I had to get an occupancy permit to live in Utrecht, because the appartment I bought was below a certain amount. You can get a permit to live in Utrecht, if you are already living in the city for three years or you work in the city of Utrecht. Well neither would have been a problem for me. However, I brought it personally to the office to make sure nothing went wrong. When I called about it on May 20th (which was the due date in the contract of sale), it appeared I had forgotten to put some papers in it, so later that week I brought those personally as well. Last Tuesday was the final due date (they’d given me a delay). I was a bit nervous, because I still hadn’t had any indication they would give me the permit and when I called Monday, they hadn’t looked at it yet. So when I called Tuesday, the woman told me she had just given me permission. All of a sudden I saw things in a brighter light and I had a good feeling when I signed paper of the contract of sale which told I had received it.
Wednesday I had a meeting with the contractor. The bathroom and kitchen area really need a renovation. That went fairly well, however, I still haven’t gotten the contract and I better call them Monday after classes. And today I went in search for tiles in my kitchen and bathroom. The bathroom tiles have been chosen, the kitchen ones are on hold.
I’m planning on writing down how the move and renovation goes and will post photos as well. The first real photos I am able to make will be after June 27th. That’s the date I will get the keys. Monday June 30th the contractor will start. However, some photos were on the internet site funda. I’ve downloaded those and will be posting them here, but as soon as I’ve made my own, a new post will be written with my own photos added. The photos are behind the cut. As you can see, it will take some time to renovate the appartment. It was a former rental appartment, so not much renovating has been done yet.
