Of work, homes, cats and other things September 2, 2008

After a long, tiresome workday, I love to curl up on the couch and watch some TV. And in some time I might do that. In my own home, at my own couch, with my own TV – scratch the TV, I already had that one. Yes, it’s finally done. Last Wednesday I’ve moved my bed, TV, computer, clothes and some other things to my appartment and moved in. Together with that, I took in this sweet little kitten, who keeps me awake at night from time to time. It was strange, but I’m starting to get used to it.
Not everything is finished, there are the little things that still need to be done; lamps, plug-in changing, just name it. I also needed to install the internet connection. However, when my dad had installed the hardware things, I needed to start the computer, and the internet to do the software. That’s no problem, if I hadn’t lost the letter containing the login things. Luckily I’ve found them today after dinner. As usual the installation didn’t go smoothly, but it worked out in the end.

After only two nights in my appartment I left the weekend for DoeDans in Biddinghuizen (The Netherlands). It was awsome, great and I’m going again next year. I did had sore muscles (still have them) after doing a  workshop with dances from Serbia. Saturday night was a blast too, the band Raromski played. If you like that kind of music (or not), they are good. A photographer took photos and I hope they’ll be on his website soon, so I can see if I’m on any (yes, there’s a change, I was on one of them last year) and order prints.

Work started again as well, got a new class, and enjoying it so far. It’s still hard to tell, after only two days. It is tiresome though, so I better stop and close off.

House update no … (I don’t know) August 1, 2008

My last update has been more than a week ago, namely just about when my holidays started. From that moment on, I’ve been at my appartment everyday for two weeks (except Sunday). Even in this enormous warm weather I’ve been working together with my mum.
The contractor also has started its work three weeks ago. After I’ve wanted a solution for the fact of my kitchen not being able to get installed, he’s been working on either the kitchen or the bathroom these entire two weeks, almost everyday, someone got to my appartment and worked on both rooms.
Unfortunately I haven’t had time nor the energy to upload all the new photos I’ve made. However, the photos I’ll be posting today are taken around July 14th, 2008.

Yesterday I’ve posted photos of my appartment when I just had the keys and since that’s been already two weeks ago, here’s another post.

Last week I had to be at my appartment, because my Ikea furniture was coming. As usual it was a wide time frame, so in the meantime we did some wallpaper scraping. Believe me, that’s no fun at all. Anyway, I made some more photos as well, which you can find behind the ‘read more’ line. Some are more detailed, others are of the work we’ve done. Be warned, there are a lot of photos, so it make some time to load!

Unbelievable how time flies by. One more week of work, one more week of teaching, one more week of tired kids and I’ll be having my summer holidays in which I can start working on my appartment. A lot of things need to be done and evening the constructor hasn’t started yet. He was supposed to start last Monday, but it has already become upcoming Monday. I’m definitely taking a look right after work that day, and when Wednesday still nothing has happened, I’m going to be very angry.

As I said, one more week of stressing and I’ll be having my holidays. It’s going to be a busy week with cleaning up and all. Tuesday the oldest children from group 8 (11-12 years old) will be having their goodbye party. First they will play softball against all the teachers, then they’ll be performing a musical and have their gifts etc. That means that I won’t be going home that day until around 10pm: a 9 and 1/2 hour work day. Most of the time it’s fun, but because I’m extremely tired at this time of the year, I’m not looking forward to it most of the time. Oh well…

A month or two ago, I promised I would upload my own photos I’ve taken of my appartment as soon as I got the keys. Never got around doing that, so when you look behind the cut line, you’ll get a treat of a lot of photos of my appartment of how it looked when I got the keys. It needs a renovation as you all know, and I’ll be showing the very, very slow progress of it here…
